Lead Paint Testing
Get a laboratory result for a specific painted surface
If you are buying, renovating, or living in an older home, you may want to know whether a particular painted surface contains lead. TriSummit Home Inspections, LLC offers limited paint sample collection for laboratory analysis in Johnson City and the surrounding East Tennessee area.
Homes built before 1978 are more likely to contain lead-based paint. A laboratory result can give you useful information about the particular paint sampled so you can decide whether further evaluation is needed.
How the service works
We collect a small paint sample from the location selected for testing, identify the sample location, and send the sample to an independent laboratory. We provide you with the laboratory result when it is available. If you have several areas of concern, ask us about collecting additional samples during the same visit.
Taking a paint sample removes a small amount of the finish and leaves a visible spot. The property owner's permission is required before sampling. Sealing, patching, or repainting the sampled area is the client's responsibility.
What your result covers
The result applies only to the material collected at the identified location. Paint elsewhere in the home, including paint beneath or beside the sampled area, may be different. A limited paint sample does not establish that a home is lead free and does not evaluate lead hazards in dust or soil.
If you need a full lead-based paint inspection, a lead hazard risk assessment, or testing for a renovation or regulatory requirement, ask about the appropriate certified lead professional for that work.
**Have a painted surface you would like tested?** Contact TriSummit Home Inspections to discuss the location and schedule a sampling visit.

- **Additional samples collected during the same visit and shipped together:** $85 each.
- **Standalone sampling visit:** $225 for the first paint sample; $85 for each additional sample collected during that visit and shipped together.
